About Hana Ticha’s
blog
Reading Hana
Ticha’s blog has brought back my own experiences as an EFL teacher and it gave
me a chance to reflect on my teaching as my lessons passed in front of my eyes
one by one comparing them to her experiences. Here are some of my insights
about her blog.
Organization and Layout
The blog is well-organized.
It is divided into paragraphs coherently so that I could follow her ideas
smoothly. The photos are chosen artfully. Most importantly, they align with the
content. I liked them.
The blog is
well-spaced. Based on my experience, I can firmly say that big white spaces in
the books, blogs, coursebooks relaxes the reader and promotes their creativity
and critical thinking. Light purple flowers in the background creates light
environment and soothes the reader. The picture of a pen and a notebook (or a
calendar) gives a hint that this is an academic content. The layout is spectacular
and chosen professionally.
Content and Features
Content is
educational based on the writer’s academic and teaching experiences in ELT
classrooms and several conferences and plenty of touching personal philosophies
and insights about life. There are special features to mention:
·
The
content gives food for thought not only for EFL teachers, but also for anyone
experiencing modern day life which is getting used to AI assistance
·
It
investigates AI from different angles and perspectives. I liked her comparison
of AI to Corpus Linguistics. It was very me. I myself used COCA several times.
Yet, AI now is very advanced.
·
Topics
are colourful and thought-provoking. In fact, I am never bored reading her
stories, the more I got to know her, the more I wanted to read
·
Variety
of interesting activities for EFL classrooms are provided. I got new ideas for
my future teaching process from these activities.
Ease of use and Navigation
The blog is very
easy to use and navigate. The headlines are accurate and related to the
content. The content is enriched by pictures, samples and even emojis which
makes it better and attractive.
Target audience
I think this blog
is mainly aimed for EFL teachers. Besides, it could be very useful for anyone
who is interested in English, current issues, psychology and Czech culture.
I haven’t seen any
comments though. It seems to be there is no lively audience engagement either.
Summary
To be honest, it
was my first experience to learn about blogging using Google. I enjoyed getting
familiar with that new helpful way of sharing my insights with others. I am
eager to start writing my own blog soon with good quality content like Hana
Ticha’s!
Hi Fotima, thanks for a beautifully written and engaging blog post - you've got off to a great start! Your own voice and experience as a teacher really shine through. You are also practising what you preach with plenty of space around your paragraphs and a lovely pink template which is relaxing and easy on the eyes! Your four points to notice in her content really made me want to read her blog so well done!
ReplyDeleteI have just a couple of point to mention for improvement. It is better to give each post a title so that they will show up more easily for your readers to click on. When you make a post the title is in the line above the main text - perhaps you missed it? Thanks for the link to the YouTube video - perhaps try to embed the video next time? Also as a rule, give a brief introduction to any link you give so that the reader knows what they will get when they click on it. Good stuff - I really look forward to reading your future posts. Enjoy the blogging journey!
Dear Ms. Tilly,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your helpful feedback. I appreciate your suggestions and use them for the improvement of my blog!
Best,
Fotima
